The Other Art Fair – 10th Anniversary

The clue is perhaps in the name, but The Other Art Fair – celebrating its 10th anniversary – seeks to turn the traditional art fair on its head. The fair – which has editions across the world, from Los Angeles to Sydney – invites the visitor to experience art differently. No conventions or elitism here. Instead, think Djs, an El Rayo<elrayotequila.com/> tequila bar and artwork that challenges and truly excites. Presented by Saatchi Art, the four-day London fair at The Truman Brewery<www.trumanbrewery.com/> will this year focus on championing women in art and art forms beyond the traditional, to coincide with International Women’s Day<www.internationalwomensday.com/>. Promising a tightly-curated and distinctive programme, over 150 independent artists have been selected by a panel of industry experts to display their work. In addition, artist, curator and founding member of gal-dem<gal-dem.com/>, Leyla Reynolds will curate the New Futures Programme which celebrates emerging talent.

LONDON MUST SEE EXHIBITIONS

Exhibition: Ed Clark: ‘Without a Doubt’ Location: Hauser & Wirth Dates: until 20 April 2022 [Thomas Barratt] Ed Clark,
Untitled (Paris), 1998, Acrylic on canvas. Photography: Thomas Barratt
Ed Clark’s solo exhibition at Hauser & Wirth<www.wallpaper.com/tags/hauser-wirth> London will plunge viewers into the depths of material and colour, where paint itself is the primary subject. Clark was a pioneer of the New York School in the 1950s, known for pushing painting<www.wallpaper.com/tags/painting> beyond hard-edged Abstraction, and became the first artist to exhibit a shaped canvas. ‘Without a Doubt’ is a deep-dive into the artist’s wide-ranging exploration of paint, marks his first solo presentation in the UK, following the artist’s inclusion in the seminal ‘Soul of a Nation: Art in the Age of Black Power 1963-1983’ at Tate Modern<www.wallpaper.com/tags/tate-modern>.
