Ben Winter

Fine Artist

Profile

Ben has a BA(Hons) in Fine Art from Central Saint Martins School of Art in London, and is also a conservation quality picture framer.

Ben lives on the south coast, not too far from Lymington, and paints still lives, landscapes, portraits and, more recently, abstract pieces. He uses a variety of media, including charcoal, pastel, oils, watercolour and acrylics. Whatever the subject matter and chosen medium, Ben has always been preoccupied by light, colour and composition, aiming to capture the immediacy of a moment or the essence of a person or place. He regards himself as a traditionalist, believing that ‘learning to see’ through observational drawing is the foundation from which his work, whether representational or abstract, must evolve.

Ben exhibits his paintings widely, including regular joint shows with his mother, the well known printmaker, Sally Winter, and his brother, fellow painter, Tom Winter.
