A splash of uplifting colour this morning amidst grey skies - paintings by Moira Hazel paired with unique ceramic vases and vessels by Peter Arscott. Hazel trained as a textile designer at the renowned Dartington Hall in Devon, moving to painting over recent years. Much of her work is inspired by travels to Australia. Peter’s wonderfully quirky ceramics are inspired by his love of colour and pattern, and by music, especially jazz. Molly Parkin, artist, fashion icon, poet and novelist, has lived a life as vivid and exuberant as her paintings. From scandalising The Chelsea Arts Club and re-imagining fashion in NOVA Magazine in the 1960s and 70s, to writing ten best selling novels and becoming a renowned television personality, Molly has always challenged the status quo. For the last thirty five years, she has returned to painting, her first love. The result is a series of ‘Molly’s Jewels’, the name she has given to a collection of vibrant paintings fizzing with jewel-like pinks, purples and greens. As we count down to the launch weekend of our Christmas show at Palais des Vaches, we are so excited to feature wonderful abstract paintings by leading contemporary artist, Felice Hodges. Felice was born in New York and won a scholarship to the Royal College of Music in London. She returned to America to study Fine Art at Cornell University and now divides her time between studios in Dorset and London. Felice’s background in music continues to influence her paintings, especially the tone poems of Debussy and Ravel. Image 1 features a close up of ‘Kerry Green’, acrylic on canvas. Image 2 features ‘Blue Royale’, acrylic on canvas. Image 3 features ‘Tango’, acrylic on canvas. Image 4 features ‘Amethyst Field, acrylic on canvas. All four paintings are available to buy this weekend.
